Once you identified the allergens, the preeminent treatment is avoiding those allergens by controlling your environment. Inside and outside stubborn allergens will keep on irritating you if you don’t make actions to eliminate them.
Let’s start inside the house. The four allergens commonly present inside the house are dust mites, insect allergens, animal allergens and molds.
To avoid dust mites, you need to remove carpets especially inside your bedroom. It is also to check your washing machine if it’s working properly. Otherwise, you’ll need the maytag washer repair to fix it. Why? Because it is important to wash you bed sheets at least once a week in hot water about 55 degrees. This is to decontaminate you beddings from all the mites. Also, stuffed toys that cannot be laundered do not have a place in your home.
To eliminate the insects like cockroaches, use pesticides or ask a professional exterminator to do the job. Insects love dirty things and leftovers so make it a hobby to clean everything after using and throw your garbage regularly and properly.
Molds appear when the humidity inside the house is high. Lowering it is one solution. Check your houseplants if there are molds growing, if yes, then move it outside your house. Use an exhaust fan or proper ventilation units in your kitchen and bathrooms. Apply fungicide to apparent molded areas. You can also use high-efficiency particulate air filter (HEPA filter) for fresh and clean air inside the house.
Avoid pets with fur if animal allergen starts your rhinitis. Hairy cats and dogs are the common animals that cause the attack.
Outdoor, pollen is the trigger of the hay fever. Pollen counts are high in the mornings so if you can avoid outdoor activities during that time of the day. If you are travelling in your car, close the windows. Same thing when you are inside the house, close your windows and doors to prevent pollens getting in. Using of masks when walking outside, sometimes help other people.
These are just few measures to control the environment in order to avoid allergens causing allergic rhinitis. Prevention is the best treatment for this condition.
