What to Do: Locked Out of Your Car

Getting locked out of a car is never fun, but it will likely happen to you at one time or another. If you are somewhere stranded, you’ll want to be able to get into your car as soon as possible. There are a few things you can try before you call a locksmith in Katy. If you know what you need to do ahead of time, you can be prepared for when you might get locked out of your car.

Getting into Your Car without Keys

There are small magnetic boxes that can be placed underneath a car that can fit a key in. If you want, you can put a key in there that can only unlock the door. When you lock your keys in the car, you can get that key and open the door easily. This is a great way to be prepared, but you will have to plan ahead of time to have that key when you need it. You will also need to hide it somewhere that others could not easily find it when they look for it.

If your window is down at all, you may want to get a wire and straighten it out, leaving a little hook at the end. You can try to stick it down through the crack in the window. You may be able to pull up the little knob on the top of the door that can unlock the door. If there is not one of those knobs in your car, this will not work. You can also test your trunk to see if it is unlocked. If it is, you may be able to move the panels in the back to get through to the backseat. There may be enough space for you to crawl through it to your backyard, but you can try to at least stick your arm through the opening to unlock the door.

Getting Help

If you have tried these things and cannot get into your car, you may need to call a Locksmith in Katy. A locksmith can easily use his or her tools to open your car and let you in. You will probably just need to give them some sort of proof that the car is actually yours.
